MIET Committee

Sheila Wong

Sheila Wong

VP Business Development, BBW Event Staff

Founding partner of Canada’s event staffing company since 1991, Sheila wanted to give back to the community that has done so much for her professional life. So many have been affected by the devastation of a cancer diagnosis – having lost her two close friends to breast cancer and leukemia. The motivation for MIET came from a conversation at an industry reception in Saskatoon. What can be done to make a difference? Euchre was the answer!

Don Leddy

Senior Account Executive, Enercare Centre | Beanfield Centre

Don Leddy is Husband, Son, Brother, Nephew, Brother-in-law and friend to Victims & Survivors of Cancer. Prior to joining Exhibition Place as Senior Account Executive at Exhibition Place, Don organized events for some of Canada’s Trade Event producers and Associations.

“Organizing MIET is my small contribution to making a BIG difference.”

Margaret Johnston

Co-founder, Events Work

Margaret has spent her career in the events industry, specializing in the start-up of large-scale events. She is also the co-founder of EventsWork, a job and career site for the events industry.  Margaret was inspired to join the committee after attending the event for the first time and finding it to be a great evening with friends and colleagues - all in support of a cause that hit close to home. She and her husband Jim played euchre regularly with her Mom and Dad and having lost her mom to cancer she enjoys making a contribution towards the research needed to find a cure.

Maureen Peets

My WHY: Cancer has touched my life in many ways, so I am thrilled to be working with this amazing group of volunteers to help plan this important event. Let’s build awareness and raise a ton of $$ to support Cancer Research and the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
